COS returns to the Fuorisalone with another mega installation.
Last year they surprised us with spectacular smoke bubbles made in collaboration with Studio Swine. This year the setting will be the beautiful Palazzo Isimbardi in corso Monforte 35, a historic building with frescoes by Tiepolo.
After collaborations of great prestige like those with Nendo, Sou Fujimoto and Studio Swine, for the 2018 Fuorisalone event COS has called the American artist Phillip K. Smith III who will realize the installation “Open Sky” in the sixteenth century courtyard of Palazzo Isimbardi .
A great architectural sculpture that will reflect the sky of Milan:
Dopo collaborazioni di grande prestigio come quelle con Nendo, Sou Fujimoto e Studio Swine, per l’evento del Fuorisalone 2018 COS ha chiamato l’artista americano Phillip K. Smith III che realizzerà l’installazione “Open Sky” nel cortile cinquecentesco di Palazzo Isimbardi.
Una grande scultura architettonica che rifletterà il cielo di Milano:
«I want to pull the sky towards the ground, to make it physically present. The square of sky above the court is transformed into a semi-circular shape, which is placed on the ground in front of the visitor. The idea is to actively and continuously combine the beauty of Milanese architecture with the sky, creating an ever-changing experience». Phillip K. Smith III
Phillip K. Smith III is famous for its mirror sculptures that reflect and integrate the landscape and invite viewers to interact. Among his most famous works there are “The Circle of Land and Sky”, a huge enclosure of chrome bars installed in the Coachella Valley and “Lucid Stead”, a building in the desert of Joshua Tree in California that covered in mirrors, reflected the landscape of the desert becoming almost invisible.
COS event will be again among those events we cannot miss!
17-22 April, Palazzo Isimbardi, corso Monforte 35.
