Kiev, capitale dell’Ucraina. Se ci penso le prime immagini che mi vengono in mente sono quelle delle rivolte e degli scontri visti nei telegiornali. La guerra ne sta oscurando la bellezza, l’oro delle sue cupole e la fame di vita dei suoi abitanti. “Fame” è proprio la parola giusta. The Cake è una pasticceria ultra moderna aperta da poco proprio a Kiev.
When I think about Kiev, the Ukraine capital, first images I think are sadly those about war and conflicts we see on the news. The war is eclipsing the beauty of the city, golden domes and the desire of life of citizens. But life goes on and recently has opened in Kiev a very modern pastry shop: The Cake.
Il grande cane-palloncino alla Jeff Koons dà subito allegria e diventa il protagonista dello spazio. La pasticceria è stata disegnata dallo studio 2B.Group, duo di architetti ucraini davvero talentuosi. Tutto è curato nel dettaglio, dai piani di appoggio dove mangiare una fetta di torta veloce, alle sedie e sgabelli.
In the center of the space there is a giant pink balloon dog in Jeff Koons way, it’s so cheerful and colored, it becomes immediately the main character of the shop. The pastry shop was designed by the studio 2B.Group, an Ukrainian duo based in Kiev. They are are really great! Everything is designed with a grate care from side tables where you can eat a slice of cake to chairs and stools.
Una menzione particolare ai bagni, divertenti e colorati. Stupendo quello a pois! Io sono particolarmente fissata con i bagni dei locali. Spesso vengono trascurati o lasciati anonimi e questo per me è un grande errore. Dei bagni curati, particolari, in cui ritrovare il mood del locale, indicano una grande cura e attenzione. Questi sono i dettagli che fanno la differenza. Se addirittura entrando nel bagno si rimane colpiti, sicuramente è un posto che ricorderemo!
A special mention to restroom: very funny and colored. I love the one with polka dots! I am particularly obsessed with restrooms in restaurants and clubs. They are designed not always with care they deserve: these are details that make the difference. In my opinion a restroom designed with care, in the same mood of the rest of the space, it’s very important, and if you smile entering in it you will remember it for sure!
