Have you ever been to the Teatro alla Scala? Amazing, isn’t it? Imagine what it could mean for a kid! An incredible experience!

The Teatro alla Scala organizes and promotes activities for children, not just activities but also plays designed for them!

Grandi Spettacoli per Piccoli started from the desire to introduce children to some of the most important opera plays created and adapted for them. Since 2014, Grandi Spettacoli per Piccoli has involved over 200,000 young spectators!

La Scala has always been open to young people, the second article of the Statute of the Theater mentions exactly the education. The Accademia del Teatro alla Scala is one of the most important schools that train qualified professionals who will bring Italian excellence in the world.

At the Academy they teach dance, singing, how to become orchestra teachers, set designers, show technicians, lighting designers, tailors, make-up artists, theater hairdressers, sound designer, photographers… The students range is from 6 to 25/26 years old.

The students of the Academy become protagonists in the initiative of Grandi Spettacoli per Piccoli: singers, orchestra, tailors and set designers are involved in the realization of the show according to the virtuous methodology of the Academy’s teaching where the students have the opportunity to work in the field alongside great masters and professionals.

The opera of this season of Grandi Spettacoli per Piccoli is L’elisir d’amore, a work by Gaetano Donizetti.

Thanks to F.I.L.A. – which organizes initiatives and workshops for children at the Scala Theater Museum – I had the chance to visit the Scala workshops in the former Ansaldo spaces in via Bergognone and meet some of the youngsters and professionals who worked to the opera L’elisir d’amore. It was amazing listening Clara Sarti, teacher of the Academy and scenographer of La Scala, telling about how they create all the dresses from sketches. For this opera they created colorful dresses entirely created and painted hand made.

You can visit the Ansaldo laboratories every Tuesday and Thursday, here you will find all the information.

Grandi Spettacoli per Piccoli is a wonderful initiative to fascinate the little ones and make them dream of becoming artists, theater professionals or theater passionate of tomorrow!

Here you will find all the information about the workshop for kids at the Museo Teatrale alla Scala.
