Zona Tortona: 11 events you can’t miss.
It is interesting to see how districts change and events move at each edition of the Fuorisalone.
Zona Tortona is the area from where it all began, here first Dutch designers exhibited their works in garages and industrial spaces that for a week were transformed into design spaces. But over the years the Fuorisalone grew and moved away.
In recent years, Zona Tortona wasn’t a very interesting district.
But this year the district returns among those to visit with events not to be missed!
Lexus: Limitless Co-Existence
Museo della Scienza e della Tecnica, via Olona 6
Don’t miss Lexus design event, every year it offers a great and fresh point of view on the future and on the power of design. You’ll find here a beautiful light installation and “bright” lollipops…
You can also see the finalist projects of the prestigious Lexus Design Award. “Design has the power to change the future”! This is a beautiful sentence and I would also add that design is also responsible for shaping it!
This year you can vote on your favorite project online from Lexus Design Award and even choose another winner instead the one chosen by the judges! Here you can discover them all and vote.
Nendo: Forms of Movement
Superstudio Più, via Tortona 27
Nendo is a guarantee of success (and loooong line), he’s definitely the design rockstar! His show Nendo: Forms of Movement, at Superstudio (registration required at the entrance: do it online, just show the confirmation on the phone for a faster entrance) is among the hottest events of this Fuorisalone.
A great exhibition – perhaps less spectacular than the one from last year – about his projects. With €5 you can also take with you a small sculpture by Nendo with a real Japanese experience!
Expect very long line…
At Superstudio Più you will find many other exhibitions and events.
Archiproducts
Via Tortona 31
This year don’t miss the beautiful setting of the Archiproducts apartment. Registration required also here but you can’t do it before on-line. Be patient!
Opificio 31
Via Tortona 31
Opificio 31 is another place that brings together different events: do not miss Norwegian Presence, SP01 – conceived in Australia, made in Italy – and Containerwerk!
Moooi
Via Savona 56
If you are not too much into minimalism, do not miss Moooi!
Sony: Hidden Senses
Via Savona 56
Right next to Moooi you will find Sony Design, very interesting and fun interactive technological installations. Maybe during the weekend when it will be crowded it will be a bit difficult to appreciate all the installations.
Envision
Via Savona 35
Envision, a beautiful project.
As I said at the beginning, it is interesting to note how the Fuorisalone geography changes over the years. While before in the Tortona area they events were in the first segment of via Tortona, closer to the railway, now they are almost all in the second part, after Piazza delle Culture.
Base
Via Bergognone 34
At the Base there are many exhibitions and events including Casa Sky Q, a lighting installation created by the designer Peter Bottazzi, a new visual experience by Sky Q: a multiscreen wireless device that connects the entire home.
In addition to the installation at the Base, until 22 April, the Sky Q Tram will take you around the city, a special white tram that has been completely transformed and set up like a real house! Sky Q Tram will take you for free around the main districts of Fuorisalone.
Sky Q Tram, until 22 April, from 3pm to 10pm.
Stops: Piazza Fontana, Cadorna, Corso Sempione, Garibaldi FS, Repubblica, Cairoli Castello, Via Ponte Vetero, Via Torino, Porta Genova FS, Piazza 24 Maggio, Piazza Fontana.
Mini Living
Via Tortona 32
Another event you can’t miss, Built by all. Here you can get to work and become a designer yourself and build your own sculpture!
