This year is the 100th anniversary of Ettore Sottsass’s birth and the Spanish brand of glasses Nina Mûr proposes a special collection in collaboration with Abet Laminati, the Italian company that worked in the late ’70s and ’80s with the Memphis group, headed by Sottsass, to invent and create iconic and colorful patterns.
The collaboration between Memphis and the company was one of the best examples of the mind opening of an industry that gave a strong push to such a peculiar and important moment in the history of Italian design.
With Memphis, the laminate finished to want to look like wood or marble and became a special material by its own. The major innovation that the laminate offered to Sottsass and to the other designer of the Memphis Group was the decoration, in this way these beautiful patterns such as Bacterio, Sponge or Rete were created for Abet Laminates.
The sunglasses are made of these pattern designed by Memphis group in a beautiful sculptural design in the ’80s style.
The collection has a feminine line “Natalie” – dedicated to Nathalie Du Pasquier – and a more male line that it’s obviously called “Ettore”.
Memphis glasses go straight into the Christmas wish list and you can find them on sale on www.ninamur.com (prices range from 235 to 360 €).
