BEFANA DIY

Primo diy dell’anno e ultimo delle feste! Domani è l’Epifania e bisogna prepararsi con le calze per la Befana. Vi propongo delle “calze” interamente da inventare con carta da pacchi, ago, filo e tanta fantasia!

First diy of the year and last one for the holidays! Tomorrow is Epiphany, in Italy we have the tradition that in this day Befana comes to every house bringing candies to good children and coal to bad once. In the morning kids will find them in socks! Let’s prepare the sock for Befana! My idea is a sock entirely home made with paper craft, needle and thread and lots of creativity!

Per prima cosa bisogna disegnare e ritagliare dalla carta da pacchi due calze, le due sagome unite andranno a formare la “calza”.

First of all you have to draw and cut out two socks shapes from the paper, these will be our “sock”.

Iniziare poi decorando quella che sarà la parte davanti della calza. Io ho usato ago e filo colorato realizzando delle righe a punto croce, cucendo decorazioni, pezzi di stoffa o quello che trovate in casa.

It’s time to decorate the sock. I’ve used needle and colored thread with cross stitches. You can also sew some Christmas decorations, pieces of fabrics o what you can find at home.

Finita la decorazione unire le due calze ricordandosi di lasciare un’apertura per riempire con caramelle e dolci. Per unire le due parti io ho cucito semplicemente con punti lunghi e filo colorato doppio.

When the decoration is over you have to join the two parts sewing them together. I’ve made some long stitches with a colored thread. Remember to keep a gap open, throw it you will fill the sock with candies.

Riempire la calza con dolce e caramelle e finire di cucire. La nostra calza interamente realizzata a mano è fatta! Sarà divertente strappare la calza e scoprire i dolcetti che custodisce!

Fill the socks with candies and sweets and finish sewing it. Our home made sock is ready! It will be fun tear up the paper and find candies!
