Every year over 7 million tons of seashells are discarded by the sea food industry.<\/strong> The majority of them are being thrown into landfills. Shells are not biodegradable and have a very high disposal cost.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Shells are not biodegradable. They consist of over 90% calcium carbonate: limestone.
\n\"Sea \"Sea<\/h3>\n

Limestone<\/strong> is used in construction and interiors, so why not take advantage of these scraps, transform them and give them a new life?<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is the idea of the designers and makers duo\u00a0Jihee Moon and Hyein Choi from the Contemporary Designers’ Collective Newtab-22<\/a><\/strong>.
\nSea Stone is a new zero-waste material.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sea Stone recalls the appearance of concrete and the Terrazzo charm. It is light as plastic but it is a totally natural, non-toxic and sustainable material.

Seashells crumbled become a new material that is a cement look alike<\/strong>. It can be used for several purposes like upholstery or create objects<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The designers duo\u00a0Newtab-22, based in London, have created a beautiful new material.
\nI really like this approach: think of something new starting from something that has no more value and that it would be discarded. An economic and ecological new material!<\/strong><\/p>\n
