{"id":32667,"date":"2018-03-08T07:30:38","date_gmt":"2018-03-08T06:30:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gucki.it\/?p=32667"},"modified":"2018-03-07T22:13:18","modified_gmt":"2018-03-07T21:13:18","slug":"where-download-original-and-vintage-maps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gucki.it\/en\/art-design-en\/where-download-original-and-vintage-maps\/","title":{"rendered":"Where download original and vintage maps"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>An online archive with over 83,000 vintage maps to download for free in high quality!<\/h2>\n<p><strong>David Rumsey started collecting maps over 30 years ago<\/strong> and his collection contains <strong>over 150,000 maps<\/strong>\u00a0from 1550 until today.<\/p>\n<p>There are maps of the United States, Latin America, Asia, Africa, Europe, Oceania&#8230; the collection covers the whole world and includes atlases, globes, pocket maps, sea charts&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>In 1996 he started to digitalize the whole collection using high-resolution scans.<\/strong> Today the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.davidrumsey.com\/luna\/servlet\/browseByCategory\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>David Rumsey archive<\/strong><\/a> offers the possibility to view and even download <strong>more than 83,000 items<\/strong> and the digitization work is still ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>You can explore the huge collection by themes: from geographic maps to explorations, from space to oceans, from mountains to natural parks, from ethnographic to zoological ones, from aerial routes to space explorations&#8230; <strong>David Rumsey making available his collection opened the doors, to anyone with an internet connection, to an incredible amount of information and precious materials.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And there is more: <strong>the images of the maps of the David Rumsey Collection can be downloaded in high (or low) resolution<\/strong>. You can even buy prints!
