For years we have considered them out of style, too classic or just for elegant homes. We’ve turned our eyes away just for a moment and here they come again: Persian rugs are back!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kilims<\/strong> are “hairless” carpets, woven like tapestries, produced from the Balkans to Pakistan. From the pages of the Scandinavian magazines and from American interiors photographs, they are now in the rooms where we would not have been expecting them: kitchens and bathrooms!<\/strong><\/p>\n

I remember very well when I forced my mom to take all her (very expensive) Persian rugs out of the house, they used to be in the living room and in the bedrooms, all this invoking my mites phobia.
\nI feel mixed feelings about rugs<\/strong>: I like them, especially geometrical ones, I know that they are great\u00a0to “warm up” a room, but I can’t let go my dust anxiety.<\/p>\n

Now, renovating our home, I will have to make peace with my fears of desperate housewives and choose a rug!
\nAs I did my research on the infinite world wide web, I came across so many photos of vintage kilim rugs in the rooms where I would never have expected them: in the kitchen and in the bathroom.<\/p>\n

Persian rugs are back in fashion<\/strong>, and if it say so American and Nordic stylists, we will soon find them in our homes too! There remains the question of how to keep them clean … do you have them at home? How do you do it?<\/p>\n

If Kilim’s fashion has already infected you, I give you a couple of tips before making crazy expenses:
\nFor years no one wanted them anymore, you can find them at thrift shops and local auctions<\/strong> for very good prices, you may be lucky and have original carpets with great deal. You’ll just have to wash them!
\nDo not forget to ask to your relatives… someone could have some vintage rugs that doesn’t want anymore!<\/p>\n
