Every morning a Milanese gets up and knows he’ll have to run…
\nNo gazelles, no lions, no Savana, in Milan we run against time<\/strong>.
\nWe are all a bit like the White Rabbit of Alice in Wonderland, “it’s late, it’s late, it’s late.” The Milanese has no\u00a0time, he has too many things to do, too many meetings, lunches, aperitivi… Milan has no time to waste!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Milan is the only place where it is totally normal to say \u201cSee you at five to nine\u201d. We schedule\u00a0appointments at the exact time, there is no \u201cclose to\u2026\u201d. Being always in a rush is in our DNA\u2026 but did you know that Milan is called the\u00a0\u201cCity of hours\u201d<\/strong>? Right behind Piazza del Duomo there is the\u00a0beautiful octagonal bell tower of San Gottardo<\/strong>, which was\u00a0equipped with the\u00a0first public clock in Milan already in the 1300s<\/strong>. The bell chimed every hour and it was so popular that\u00a0the Milanesi named\u00a0the surrounding area\u00a0\u201cContrada delle ore\u201d<\/strong>. In its proximity, even today one can find Via delle Ore.<\/p>\n

One will easily notice that\u00a0Milan is the city of hours<\/strong>\u00a0because it is full of\u00a0public clocks<\/strong>, all synchronized (in the past municipal employees were hired to ensure their accuracy), all showing\u00a0the correct time. Standing at the corner of Piazza del Duomo with Via Orefici and Via Torino, one can see six clocks!
