24 Stops is a wonderful 5km walk that links two countries – Germany and Switzerland, two municipalities – Weil am Rhein and Riehen (Basel) and two prestigious institutions, the Vitra Campus and the Fondation Beyeler.

The cross-border path has 24 waymarkers created by the German artist Tobias Rehberger inaugurated in 2016.

You can choose to begin the walk from the Vitra Campus or from the Fondation Beyeler, two giant sized bells to celebrate departure and arrival. At the end of the walk you can return to the starting point using the 24 Stops shuttle or by bus or taxi.

Last weekend I did this wonderful walk with my family: my husband and my parents. We started from the Fondation Beyeler and in about an hour and a half, we arrived at the Vitra Campus (take your time, it is really a wonderful walk, not a marathon!). We visited the campus, Vitra Haus, Vitra Design Museum and Schaudepot. Here you can eat and have beautiful (and very good) coffee breaks in Vitra Café or in the Depot Deli.
We returned to Fondation Beyeler by taxi and we visited it, the most beautiful art collection in Europe.

24 Stops is a walk that combines nature, art, design and architecture: in the Campus Vitra you can see buildings designed by the most famous architects of the world such as Frank Gehry, Zaha Hadid, Jean Prouvé, Herzog & de Meuron, Alvaro Siza, SANAA Studio and Tadao Ando, while the Beyeler Foundation building was designed by Renzo Piano.

The area is beautiful in every season, but the walk is an unforgettable experience in Autumn when ripe grapes in vineyards and foliage colors make it magical.
Don’t miss it!
