Saint Lucy’s Day, also called the Feast of Saint Lucy, is a Christian feast day celebrated on 13 December, from Sicily and North of Italy to Scandinavia commemorating Saint Lucy.
Saint Lucy brings gifts to good children. In Scandinavia they celebrate the light in the longest day of the year (at least it was before the introduction of the Gregorian Calendar). Girls are elected to portray Lucia. Wearing a white gown with a red sash and a crown of candles on the head they bring cookies. They say that vividly celebrate Saint Lucy’s Day will help one live the long winter days with enough light.
