A gigantic clock (over three metres in height) in the Lounge 2 of the Schiphol Airport, one of the world’s most popular airports. Every year 15 million people travel through Lounge 2 at Schiphol, hosting passengers from all around the world.
Schiphol asked Maarten Baas to create a new clock.

A man draws-deletes-and draws again hands of the clock in real time. A true representation of the time, a human-clock. Hand after hand, time passes.

If you’re wondering … it’s just a video! However, Maarten Baas wanted to create a little the illusion leaving a ladder and a door allowing access inside the watch. Real Time clocks show a video performance made by Baas which takes exactly twelve hours to film and twelve hours to watch it in its entirety, thus creating a hyper-realistic representation of time.

Enjoy!
